RESPONSIBILITIES
The Town of Ulster Police Department is an Accredited Agency established in 1983 consisting of 24 full time sworn officers. We protect and serve the residents of the Town of Ulster and surrounding community with services including:
- Road Patrol
- K9 Unit
- Detective Division
- Juvenile Division
- Communication and Administration
- School Resource Officer (SRO)
- Certified Hostage Negotiator
- Sniper
- Emergency Service Unit
- Community Policing Program
PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES
- Operation Safe Child ID Program
- Three certified child safety seat technicians
- Partner with MedicAlert to provide free ID bracelets to those with dementia or autism
- Police Matter every first Thursday at 4:00 PM
Reform & Reinvention Collaborative Committee
This volunteer committee, formed in 2020 with applications from town residents, is tasked with making policy and procedural recommendations to the Town Board to ensure healthy and productive engagements and foster a mutual trust between the Town Police and all segments of our community. Recommendations must be uniquely tailored to our town, and its communities.
